Meet Jane.
The skin of her nails peel back,
The splinters of dead skin hang,
Last resort. To tear the slivers with her teeth.
She’s a mongrel.
The tips of her fingers deteriorate against her bloody gums.
She’s been at it for hours.

Meet Jake.
The flesh coils at the break of his knuckles.
Peeling back to the crimson liquid oozing from the crevices of his skin.
Last Resort. Rip it off & watch it scab. Watch it start again. Grow.
He’s a beast.
He’s been at it for days.

Together, yet alone, they sit and watch
The shadows dance across the wall.
Jane makes friends among the darkened visage she finds in familiar territory,
While Jake talks to the ticking clock he finds beating faster than normal.
Only a dancer’s heart beat.

Together, they fall apart.
But Jake knows, he needs to start again. Grow.
And so he begins. Yet,
He’ll let the tips of her fingers deteriorate in his mouth for a while…
While Jane peels the coils of flesh to start again. To grow.

If only he knew, what she’d do with out him.
