Bloomington

Oldtimey songs and parkour are the order of the day in Bloomington. We went out to the Indiana woods and played last night; some folks camped, but we came back to the pleasures of city living, giving us the capability to watch things like Shortbus (go rent it, you'll see sex acts in this movie you've never seen before. Especially the national anthem part). The best part about this trip is talking with Vanessa and Kalila, constantly laughing at everything, but only when all 3 of us are present. Good chemistry and a long memory make a good time.

Vanessa's comments on the same trip

"i'm in bloomington. we aren't going to chicago after all. it's a little disappointing to miss [Bad username: nineinchlovely"], but we weren't going to get a good, solid visit in anyway. i love the punks. i love them so, so much. i love how things are dirty and chaotic and noisy and silly all the time. i don't think i would like to live in this environment, but it sure is fun as an escapist vacation. i'm many years older than most of these kids, and sometimes it's a little disorienting--like when i have a conversation about feminist politics with someone as militant and idealistic as i was a few years ago, and i try to explain to them how i got from that point to where i am today (not that i'm ahead of them, just in a different place) and they totally don't get it because they haven't necessarily mastered nonabsolutist thinking--but mostly it's just really fun. i don't have fun like this at home. i'm rather much a home body at home and i'm generally okay with it, but this is fun, too. i don't know. i'm not explaining it very well. i'm also digging hanging out with all these primitivists. and my lovely wife. oh, kalila..."
