I finished played FF VIII the other day. Overall, I liked it better than a lot of the FFs I've played. The junctioning system is unique, I played a lot of the card game, and I enjoyed most of the characters. Some people I know complained about having to draw magic from opponents, but I think I ended up refining more magic from cards and items than drawing.

Now I'm back to FF XIII and I'm on Chapter 13. Mostly, I'm waiting to go back to Gran Pulse in the post-game for all the sidequests that I didn't finish previously.

I still need to type up my longest poem ever, and I need to print out my big project and figure out how to arrange its individual parts.

Also, I've been reading Kafka on the Shore by Haruki Murakami. The way he describes the cities and nature is compelling for me, and I like the magical realism. His version of Japan is different than the one in my head & experience, too. However, some parts of the translation seem out of place or like dumbed-down choices to me (come on, just tell us what the bean jam thingies are really called, man). There are 200 pages to go, so here's hoping I find the end.
