Today was my first day actually working in Mitra's lab. (I don't want to talk about the Departmental retreat I just came back from. It involved food poisoning, a snoring roommate and bad adult ice-breaker games).
I am going to use an incubator and load cell to test rat whiskers. I got the refrigerator-like thing down to our lab.
The safety supervisor, just a dude in the lab, told me the last person that used it put radioactive materials in it that may still be there. So he told me to wear gloves so I wouldn't get zapped. right...
Hooking the thing up, which involves a 315 page manual, is a serious process. I have to put half my body into the machine just to adjust the setting and wiring. I don't think gloves are going to help much with the radiation.
