Dear Yuletide Fairy
Oh Stella Gibson, reigning ice queen of my heart, where do I even begin? I love her and her take no prisoners, unashamedly feminist and looking gorgeous while doing it approach to everything. Gillian Anderson said in an interview that “Stella is an island.” It is an island I desperately wish to be stranded on. In lieu of that, I’d love to learn more about what it’s like on Stella’s island, either from her point of view or from the people around her who are perpetually trying to figure her out. I don’t think Stella is lonely at all with her relatively contained solitary existence, but I wonder if she does, from time to time, let people bridge that island-ness. Backstory about other investigations or why she joined the police force would be totally welcome.
I would love femslash or gen for this. I nearly requested Dani or Reed alongside Stella, but couldn’t decide which one! And ultimately just went with Stella because I really love her the most. But I would be over the moon with Stella having a “sweet night” with Dani or Reed or even with Dani and Reed. It would be interesting to explore if Stella has the same “no strings attached” attitude with respect to women as she does to men. It’s not a question I really have a particular answer to-I would be happy with a fic that went either way. And fix-it fic for "Croydon" would be totally welcome! Though please no Stella/Burns, Stella/Paul, or Stella/any man on this show.
I do have a crossover suggestion that is very much optional details are optional--but the one man I do ship Stella with is James Hathaway from Lewis. (which is not Yuletide eligible) I love the idea of sexually fluid, sexually free Stella seducing repressed Hathaway and just well...topping the fuck out of him. He's smart and handsome and I think would totally be her type! But I can also see him putting up some resistance...I don't know, I think she would be a good influence on him and possibly he on her.
I did receive a Stella drabble last year and it was lovely--I am only requesting again because I can't get enough Stella! Oh and I am weak, WEAK for Stella in her DSI uniform. Lots of shiny silver buttons. And a tie!
Yentl- Hadass/Yentl
When I watched this movie as a kid, I was always drawn to Yentl and her cross dressing. Rewatching as an adult, I suddenly realized how incredibly sexy Hadass is. I love the way she grows in confidence and how she turns out to be cleverer than anyone ever expected. So a post- canon reunion between these two ladies or an AU where Yentl and Hadass do consummate their marriage and continue the masquerade would totally be my cup of tea. Something from Hadass' POV could be really neat, especially her feelings regarding Yentl as Anschel vs. Yentl as Yentl. It would be interesting to explore how they might relate to each other as women and how comfortable (or not) Yentl is with femininity.
I did not request Avigdor, but I am open to a happy loving OT3 for all of them. Maybe they join her in America?
Kushiel's Legacy
I am a shameless, unrepentant Melisande fangirl. She is perhaps my favorite fictional antagonist ever.
I am totally head over heels in love/lust with the Kushielverse. I love the world-building, especially Carey's use of myth and religion, and the sexual fluidity and moral ambiguity of so many of the characters. Melisande, Delaunay and Phedre are by far my favorites. Melisande's POV isn't often done...if you feel up for the challenge that would be fantastic!
Melisande/Delaunay is so sexy to me and sadly there is hardly any fic for them- I’d love a story set during their pre-canon relationship, where they play mind and sex games with one another. I’d also love a canon divergent AU where Melisande and Delaunay join forces and Phèdre becomes their protégé, especially if it ends up in a big ball of sexual tension love quadrangle between Melisande-Phèdre-Delaunay-Alcuin with Joscelin looking on shaking his head in disgust. And I always, always have wanted to read about a post-Mercy reunion between Phedre and Melisande.
Pre-canon, post-canon, AUs where Melisande went after Ysandre instead of Baudoin, all welcome! I'd equally love genfic about Melisande's relationship with Imriel or how she passed the time in the Temple of Asherat or made her escape. Backstory about Melisande's childhood and how she grew into the hypercompetent brilliant sadist that she is would be amazing. I've been written fic for Melisande before and it was wonderful- I only request it again because I love her so much and can't help myself!
I know kink and explicit sex is a big part of the Kushielverse, but if that's not you, don't feel pressured to write it. I'm equally happy with a PG or PG-13 story focused on intrigue and the arts of covertcy.
Angels in America--Prior Walter, The Voice/The Angel
I'm a huge fan of Kushner's story and especially the HBO adaptation. It touches me deeply, sometimes I watch it when I'm depressed and there's something about coming out of the darkness into the light that is so powerful to me. I've always been intrigued by the relationship between Prior and the Angel and the sort of over the top sexual ridiculousness of it all. ("She has EIGHT vaginas!") Here's this gay man on his death bed being fucked by a supernatural creature with eight vaginas....i can't even. So I've always wondered what exactly Prior thought of his encounters with the Angel, sexual and otherwise. Does he think of her fondly? Does he ever see her again? How, as a man living with AIDS and surviving a plague, does he understand those supernatural experiences he had? Will he always consider himself a Prophet?
I know the Angel is supposed to be a symbol of stasis and conservatism, but I'm also interested in her and how her encounters with Prior might have forced her to start moving, spinning forward. It would be interesting to see the two of them keep encountering each other throughout the course of Prior's life.
More life. The great (Yuletide) work begins.
