Control Frakking S!

Mar 14, 2010 16:26

I was about 1,500 words into the conclusion of Conversations on Collapse when Microsoft Works crashed. How long had it been since I'd saved? I re-started the program and opened the file. Word count?

548

So do I sit here and try to reconstruct what was lost while I still retain some memory of what I've written or do I get up and go take a walk in the woods and comeback to this later and write something different?

Really, the decision makes itself. My shoulders are sore from typing on this laptop keyboard for most of the afternoon, and my brain is fried.

I took a screenshot of what I had on screen when the program crashed. I've put it behind the cut tag. It reminds me of the image of Sean Connery's character in The Name of the Rose running out of the burning library with an armload of books. It's a tiny piece of what was lost.

[Sigh.]
