"Yeah, like I feel guilty about putting my love life above the safety of America but still..."

Well 2004 sure is off to a rocky start, but that was to be expected. God forbid my life be drama free for once. Justin informed me yesterday that he is going to volunteer to be a guard at one of the tunnels in New York City. While I admire his courage and his desire to serve his country, I am also kind of bitter because he will have to leave me for a whole month. I guess that isn’t that long of a time, but it is just so dangerous and scary. I don’t want to lose my baby.

The thing is, he will probably be deployed by the end of the summer. Many of his friends are over there, and they have started to deploy National Guard troops to relieve the other soldiers that have been over there for a more than a year. So if he is going to have to leave in a few months, I don’t understand why he is volunteering to go away now. I am so sad. I totally would have cried myself to sleep last night if not for Danielle and Kaitlin. Talking to the both of them made me so feel so much better and they got me excited to back to school. It is going to be a fun semester and I know that we will make lots of memories sober and drunken. LOL.

Anyways, New Years Eve was extremely fun but possibly a little too drunken. (You never thought that you would hear me say that did you?) Justin and I went to a party with my mom and step-dad. The party started around 8:00, which was way too early. All night long I kept on telling Justin not to let me pass out before midnight. Knowing me, that would be quite possible. The night progressed and after taking shots with my mom, drinking some fruit punch/whiskey concoction, and attempting to go beer for beer with Justin, I was hammered! At one point, I went to get food from the snack table and I fell flat on my ass. Justin had to help me to my feet, while all the adults laughed hysterically. Finally midnight rolled around and Justin swears that we had a very romantic kiss, but I have no recollection of it. It was still a very fun night though-getting drunk with my mother is always a good time.

The next night my mom took us out to Carabba’s for a New Year’s Dinner and then to see "Something’s Gotta Give." The movie would have been much more enjoyable if I hadn’t gotten food poisoning from my shrimp scampi at Carabba’s. I threw up three times during the movie! SICK! When we got home, Justin and I watched some television shows on E! for a little bit and then I went to bed. That could have been such a good day if I had not got so sick.

My whole weekend was spent working (what else) but there was one highlight: the first Jackie O party of the New Year! Lots of good times ensued as was expected. Jackie outdid herself and made a wonderful peporoni and cheese appetizer. Lauren, Kate, Adam, Megan and I sat around chatting while Jackie prepared the drinks. I remember so little of that night probably because I was still delirious and sick.

After a little while Justin, Dennis, and Joe showed up. Jackie O, the ever gracious hostess, was trying to shove drinks down their throats. We all sat around reminiscing about old drinking times and laughing. It was such a fun night. Finally Kate and I decided that we wanted to go Taco Bell. Adam, Kate, Lauren and I all hopped into Jackie’s SUV and off we were. Jackie was sweet and paid for our food so that made the trip even more enjoyable. (“You’re all poor college students!”) All in all it was a great nigh-I can’t wait for the formal!

Now I am at Comcast getting ready to leave for the day. Ray is coming down to visit, which is nice. I could use someone to cheer me up right now. I have no clue what we are going to do or where we are going to go but I am sure that it will be a good time. I hope I get to see my girls this week-because of my late night work schedule we have barely hung out at all this break.

I hope that everyone had a fun New Year’s and that 2004 turns out to be a great year for everyone!
