Girlie Movie #1
Last weekend I rented The Notebook. I'll admit the first time I watched it I was a little drunk and little tired. So I did a second viewing the next day - which involved my full concentration and all the tears that Laura chastised me for not shedding the first time. Also, I watched the deleted scenes which were really great. I learned two things from this movie:
1. I really like Rachel McAdams. I sort of fell in love with her during Wedding Crashers and after watching The Notebook I like her even more. And I just picked up Red Eye at Blockbuster last night. I haven't watched it yet, but I'm really excited.
2. Ryan Gosling is adorable. I absolutely loved his character in the movie. I kinda wanted to jump on him the way Rachel McAdams did. haha. He's a cutie.

Girlie Movie #2
This morning I got sucked into watching A Walk to Remember. I had big plans for furniture shopping & going into the office to catch up on work but instead TBS took over. I always avoided this movie b/c I'm not a big fan of Mandy Moore and it looked a little cheesy. Overall I liked it though. And I can't remember the last time I cried that much. But there were also things I didn't really like about it.
So the movie is about the popular guy falling for the not-so-popular girl. The first thing that bothered me was that on their first date he said "Jamie, I love you." Can you really love people that quickly? Even if you have known them a long time? And if you did love them, would you really tell them on the first date? The second thing that bothered me was that he proposed to her. I felt like he proposed just b/c she was dying. And their parents didn't object (unless that part was cut out on TBS). It annoyed me a bit. But like I said, overall I enjoyed it. And now I kind of want to read Nicholas Sparks (who wrote both of the movies I've discussed thus far). I feel like they would be nice quick reads. And a good break from the classical literature streak I've been on lately.

Movie #3 (not necessarily girlie, but equally as cheesy)
After A Walk to Remember I watched Pleasantville. I always have mixed feelings about this movie - I kind of like it, kind of don't. I actually think I've only seen it on TBS as well. And today I realized something about the ending that really bothered me. Reese decides to stay in Pleasantville. Why doesn't her mother wonder what happened to her? I realize this is a silly question considering I'm accepting the fact she's been sucked into a tv show. But I always feel like I need explanation, even if the rest of the movie isn't reasonable. But overall I like the concept of the movie.
