Now that a big furry convention and a big holiday are behind me, I can hopefully find some more time in which to get some writing done (you know, before the next big holiday comes up).
I haven't had a lot of time to get a lot of writing done, lately, which is a shame, as always. It seems like I can find time to catch up on either reading or writing, but not both. My goal, then, for this week, will be to get some of both done, somehow. I've got a piece I'm working on (for another project that isn't furry erotica-related, alas) that I hope to have done by this coming Monday.
Longer pieces keep on cropping up more and more, recently. It's kind of funny, really, because I had gotten so comfortable with longer works, in years past, but now I'm finding that I really enjoy doing shorter pieces. That's not to say that I don't like writing longer stuff, still; it's just that, lately, the few quick pieces I've dashed off here and there have been very gratifying to do, with the added bonus of being low-stress.
I got a lot of great feedback for
"Threshold of Passion", which I honestly had not been expecting. From a review and feedback perspective, I think it got a more favorable response than many of my other stories that I've put out this year. That's encouraging, really, and I think I'll use that as incentive to do some more work that's of a less-verbose variety.
Maybe that's also kind of ironic, too. Many (if not most) of my fans tell me that they started following my work because of the depth and structure I put into my stories, and now it seems like people are gaining a better appreciation for "the quickies." Perhaps there's some balance. Perhaps readers need a little break, too, sometimes, from the deep and plodding and (okay, I'll admit it) sometimes pretty depressing stuff that I write.
In the meantime, though, Real Life has me pinned down, working on some longer stuff. If I can find a spare afternoon or two, though, maybe another one of my "sketch" pieces can sneak its way onto the page at some point.
