YEHES!

Our last reflection paper for history was given back today. When they were being handed out, I was bracing myself for a pretty awful score, probably along the lines of a 17/20 or at the very least, a 15/20. I was also slightly panicking deep down inside because of the possibility of having that exemption being retracted. The horror of it all. I hardly took notes since the time Sir Tirol said that I would get an exemption provided that I get at least an 18/20 in the final reflection paper.

Anyway, the reason for such low confidence in the last paper was because I did it on the day of the deadline. Elaborating, I started the paper only a couple of hours before deadline (my personal deadline is class time, 1.30PM) and I hardly had any sleep the night before. No, Cathy has not turned into a party animal/ slacker who has completely neglected her requirements for school. Since someone (ahem sirtheo ahem) didn't inform our group early enough for our theo group report, we weren't able to plan and set up something brilliant. In effect, we were stuck and we were cramming. Thus, the opportunity cost of accomplishing something vaguely brilliant for theo group report was sleep and my history paper. Anyway, the following day, while caffeine and a bit of adrenaline was running through my veins, I was able to finish my paper in 3 hours. But I had to cut SA for that, which is another opportunity cost (sorry for the accounting hangover). In the end, I wasn't too keen with what I did because I usually have many drafts before the final paper itself. However, my brains were already fried and I was already pretty tired, so I finally settled with my OC self and said, "oh, what the heck".

Okay! After much rambling about what happened, the results: *drumroll*

20/20 = A!

Furthermore, there is a comment: (verbatim)

"This is a truly moving paper. I definitely want a soft copy. And have you ever considered minoring in history? :)"

YEHES. Yun Yown eh! :))

I would like to thank my sponsors for making this possible.
  • Rica Yabut : for providing me with my morning coffee
  • CGPG + Pao + Joe : for putting up with me when I start to stare at you blankly because I was thinking, but I didn't think you guys noticed :))
  • Paul Verlaine : for composing Clair de Lune (the song that was blasting through my earphones for the entire time I was writing my paper. I think I listened to it for about 40 times that morning.)
  • Steve Jobs (or whoever invented iTunes) : for the repeat function in your software
  • Matteo Ricci : for your wonderful study hall filled with tables, chairs and aircon

Kidding aside, this really made my day. :)
