Odds and Sounds (mostly heat-related)

We're hiding out in the Bat Cave and it's warm even down here.  My reusable neck cloth is chilling in the freezer for when I must return upstairs.  [My MiL gave me one of these last year. Each is a fabric tube filled with a water-absorbing material that you soak in ice water then tie around your neck. Really does help keep you cool and you can make them cheap!] Managed to clean the TV room and kitchen and work on laundry and then started feeling overheated so we fled down here.  Thank goodness dinner is already composed and chilling in the fridge so we don't have to heat up the kitchen or fire up the grill. All in all: bleah!

The heat didn't let up until 3:00 a.m. this morning; I'm glad I managed to get a few winks of shuteye though my poor hubby (a notoriously light sleeper) has probably been a caffiend today.  That's the worst part about this heat - it takes forever for it to cool down at night.  Once this summer's over and prices go down, a box fan has been added to the shopping list.

Keeping cool plans for the week include storytime at the library tomorrow, open swims at the pool on Wednesday and Friday and possibly a movie matinee on Thursday. Might even hit the 3rd floor of Bell Square if Mr. G gets desperate to run around; their 3rd floor is a huge kid play area.

Still, why do I feel like the Wicked Witch of the West...I'm melting! I'm melting!
