На водохранилище Мабпрачан / at Mabprachan reservoir
В субботу съездили мы с boablanc на водохранилище Мабпрачан в 15 км от нашего тайского дома. Бакланы в этот раз не сидели кучкой, как в прошлый раз, а расселись поодиночке по песчаным буграм в разных кусках водохранилища. Зато в траве копошились камышевки птички, которых я, конечно, не смог определить. Условно записал для себя как маньчжурскую камышевку (Acrocephalus tangorum) - но очень условно.
On Saturday boablanc and I went for a walk at Mabprachan reservoir 15 km from out home in Thailand. The cormorants were not roosting together this time, but sat spreading their wings on separate sand heaps in different parts of the reservoir. But there were reed warblers (?) teeming in the grass and bushes along the shoreline, which of course I could not identify. I noted it roughly for myself as Manchurian Reed-warbler ( Acrocephalus tangorum) - but very rougly indeed.

В общем начинается и здесь сезон пролета птичек, надо в этот раз не упустить.
Потом пошли прогуляться ниже плотины, там посадки эвкалиптов, но по краям попадается и местная растительность. На опушке нам показался Полосатый бородастик ( Megalaima lineata / Psilopogon lineatus), птичка родственная воспетому Киплингом птице-меднику.
So, the bird passage season is starting here too, it's not to miss this time.
Then we went below the dam, to walk alomg the path in the eucaliptus plantations, there are local trees along the edges of the eucaliptus stand too. A Lineated Barbet (Megalaima lineata / Psilopogon lineatus) let itself to be seen from afar.

На стволе одного из эвкалиптов boablanc заметила змею, покопавшись дома в книжке, я определил ее как Обыкновенную украшенную змею (Chrysopelea ornata). Змея эта водится по большей части Индии и Юго-восточной Азии и замечательна тем, что умеет придавать своему телу уплощенную форму и использовать это для планирующего полета. Но при нас змея никуда не летала.
boablanc saw a snake on one of the eucalyptus trees. Looking at the book at home I identified it as an Ornate flying snake, or Golden tree snake (Chrysopelea ornata). It occurs across most of India and South-East Asia and is famous by its ability to make the body flat and use it for gliding flight. The snake did not fly in our presence.
