Summary: Future fic. Emily has big some news for Sheldon.
Emily Davis-Schlepper couldn’t wait for her husband to get home from work so she could tell him he was going to be a father. She and Sheldon had been trying to conceive for over eight months now, and they had started to lose a little hope. Emily had been thrilled and shocked to get a positive result on the pregnancy test she had taken earlier, and now she couldn’t wait to share the news with Sheldon.
Emily was so impatient and unable to keep the news a secret that she called Casey Venturi and told her about her pregnancy. After both women were done squealing, they talked about their plans for the weekend - They were having a barbecue to herald in the end of summer. When that conversation ended, Emily tapped her foot impatiently and watched out the window for Sheldon’s car. When he finally pulled up, she sighed happily in relief.
“Hey, what’s up?” Sheldon was unprepared when his wife bolted towards him and hugged him with everything she had. He smiled at her and then kissed her.
“Sit down; I have to tell you something.”
“Is it something bad? Don’t be something bad.”
“It’s not bad, I promise you that.” She couldn’t keep the smile off her face, and she wondered if her husband had already guessed. (He hadn’t.)
“So tell me. What is this you have to tell me?” Sheldon waited for Emily to speak.
She sighed and had a sudden burst of fear. What if he had changed his mind about wanting a baby? That was always a possibility. Emily decided to say something before she completely lost her confidence. “We’re having a baby, Sheldon. I’m pregnant!” She beamed at him as Sheldon gaped at her in shock before he found his voice.
“You mean my sperm and your egg met? This is really happening?”
“Yes!” She bit her lip so she didn’t start crying - Where was that reaction coming from? Emily wondered if the pregnancy hormones were kicking in already. She would have to ask her mother and Casey.
“You have no idea how unbelievably happy I am right now.” Sheldon placed his hand on her stomach and then kissed it before leaning his head up and kissing Emily.
“I’m so glad you said that.” Emily didn’t understand why she had been so worried since they had been trying, but at least her husband was thrilled about the news.
“I love you, Em. And I love you too, little one.”
“We love you so much.” Emily leaned her forehead against Sheldon’s, and laughed when he turned the radio on to one of her favorite romantic songs. They began dancing along with the music.
The family of two would be growing in eight short months, and neither could wait. They couldn’t wait to be parents and welcome their baby (Babies, but they didn’t know that yet.) into the world.
This shared journey would change their lives forever, and they looked forward to the adventure they were about to embark upon.
