Summary: Ashley Boyd is determined to prove that everyone is wrong about her.
Ashley Boyd knows what everything thinks of her, but she’s going to prove everyone wrong. She may be nineteen and naïve, but she can be a good mother to her daughter. She’s survived life with her horrible stepmothers and stepsiblings, and Ashley knows she can do anything. Ruby’s her best friend, and she knows she’ll have her support.
Ashley is extremely grateful to Emma for stepping in and helping her with Mister Gold because she doesn’t know what she would have done otherwise. She never should have let Sean’s father pay her off for the baby, but she was terrified and alone, and didn’t know what to do. However, Alexandra is her priority now and Ashley isn’t going to make any more mistakes. And she’s glad Sean’s by her side again - She forgives him for not being there during her pregnancy, since that was mostly his father’s fault. He tries to control everything Sean does, and that isn’t right. Ruby won’t agree, but Ashley will be able to convince her to back off - She’ll just shove the baby in Ruby’s arms so she melts. It’s the perfect plan.
Ashley and Sean are so grateful for what Emma’s done for them that they give Alexandra the middle name of Emma to honor her. Emma is embarrassed of course, but she’s just happy that Ashley’s choice wasn’t taken away from her.
Being a mom is hard, but Ashley is determined that she and Sean will raise Alexandra to be a good person. She doesn’t want to screw this up and have everyone continue to believe she is a fuck up. Sean, Ruby, Emma, and that teacher that Ashley can never remember the name of (Mary Margaret?) are the only people that have ever believed in her, and she’s still shocked by that sometimes. She hasn’t felt loved, really loved, since her father died and left her alone with the three bitches that have ruined her life. She hates them so much, and will try to avoid them as much as possible for the rest of her life. Alexandra will never know them, that much is for sure.
She makes some mistakes with her daughter (as does Sean), but Ashley doesn’t mind the occasional fumble. She is a good person and a good mother, no matter what her stepmother and stepsisters drilled into her head all her life. She’s better than them, and will treat Alexandra with the respect and love she deserves.
It’s times like these that Ashley wishes her mother was alive - She barely remembers her, but she knows that she was a good woman. She would know what to do when Alexandra wakes up in the middle of the night and can’t be soothed.
But she does well, and Ashley starts to become more confident in herself and her abilities as a parent. Sean also does his best to reassure her, and they marry when Alexandra is six months old.
Ashley Boyd isn’t going to let anyone dictate her life again. She’s her own person, and no one can tell her what to do or judge her for her decisions.
