Summary: Juliet comes home from a long day of work, and finds a love letter from Sawyer.

Juliet Ford was exhausted from attending to deliveries all night, and couldn’t wait to go home to her husband. David was staying with Jack and Kate for the weekend, so she and James were alone - At least for a little while. Clementine was coming to visit in three weeks, and two weeks after that, she was due to deliver her and James’ first child.

“James?” she called when she stepped into the house. Juliet checked her watch and was surprised to find it was after midnight. Her husband was probably sleeping. She’d let him go and then they’d celebrate their rare alone time in the morning.

She winced as the baby gave a hard kick and went to the kitchen to find a snack. Juliet was starving. “I know, Baby Girl. Mommy’s getting something to eat.” That’s when Juliet noticed the paper on the table. Her curiosity got the best of her, and she picked it up and started to read.

Juliet, I love you. I tell you all the time, but it’s true. I can’ t imagine life without you, Baby. And I know this is probably going to be sappy and I’m not usually like this, but I don’t care. Can you believe we’re going to have a baby of our own in a few weeks? I love David like he’s my own and of course I love Clem, but Ava’s going to be a part of the both of us.

I was barely able to move on without you after your death in the original timeline. And that’s still a weird sentence to say, think, or write. Clementine kept me going. Kate tried to cheer me up, but she was dealing with Jack’s death and nothing really worked. I wasn’t truly happy until I ran into you at the vending machine in the hospital. You give me life, Juliet. (Well, that was one of the sappiest things I’ve ever written or said, but it’s true.)

Nothing made me happier than the day you agreed to marry me. I was so nervous and Jack - your ex-husband of all people - told me nothing could get worse than his proposal to you. Apparently, he ended up in the hospital because of an allergic reaction and you went into labor with David while there? No wonder you two ended up divorced! But I’m getting off track. Doc assured me that you’d say yes, because you love me so much. And you did.

I’m glad we got married. Telling people that you’re my wife thrills me. Miles was prepared to give me the “Don’t panic speech” since he was my best man, but I felt calm. There was nothing to worry about. I was marrying the love of my life. And of course I couldn’t stop crying once the minister said we were finally married, but that’s okay. Neither could you.

We have a great family, Blondie. I’m so proud to have David as a stepson. And I know you love Clementine, too. I was so excited when you told me you were pregnant. I can’t wait for Ava’s birth. She’s probably going to be beautiful, just like you are.

Now you’re probably getting home late because of work (I wish you’d slow down a little, but I know better. You won’t.) and I’m in bed. Come on up and we can celebrate our alone time once we wake up.

I love you, Juliet. Had to tell you again. James.

Juliet was in tears by the time she finished reading the letter. James could be so romantic sometimes, even though he wouldn’t admit it. She decided to put the letter away in a box so the kids could read it someday.

She grabbed a snack and headed upstairs. James was going to be rewarded a lot over this weekend, and it was all because of that love letter.

They were soul mates, and nothing was going to tear James and Juliet Ford apart.
