Summary: Jack is hurt, and Dan worries about him.
His partner’s been shot and is lying in a hospital bed, which is completely unacceptable to Dan. Jack doesn’t ever want him to get hurt again and tells him so. “I’m fine, Jack. I’ll be out of the soon,” Dan promises Jack.
“You could get hurt again, and next time you’ll end up in the sky.” Jack doesn’t want him to get hurt again.
“Hey, look at me. I can’t promise that I won’t get hurt, but I can try to promise not to leave you.” Dan understands Jack’s fears.
“I love you,” Jack mumbles. He doesn’t say those three words very often, but he means it. He loves Dan so much.
Dan smiles. “I know. I love you too.” If he had the energy, he’d lean over and kiss his partner to reassure him that everything’s okay.
“I’m going to make sure you’re taken care of when you come home.” Jack is going to take very good care of Dan.
“I told you I’m okay, but I can’t wait for you to take care of me.” Dan can’t wait to see what Jack has in store.
“Everything will be okay Dan,” says Jack.
At least Dan is fine now.
