"Daisuke-kun helped!" I yelled desperately before I felt my body sank deeper into the water.
Daisuke's POV
I'm totally enjoying the massage like sensation that the water from the falls is doing at my back. The force of the falling water soothes the sore muscles of my back that I can't help but close my eyes.
Then suddenly I heard a faint cry, and I think I heard someone yelled my name. When I opened my eyes to check who it was, I saw no one, then it dawned on me that Sakura was not sitting beside me anymore and she is nowhere to be found. My heart raced when I thought that it was Sakura's voice whom I heard earlier.I dived into the water and frantically searched for her in the crystal clear lagoon.
My heart seemed to stop as I saw her frail body sinking into the bottom of the lagoon. I wasted no time as I swam faster to where she is. I grab Sakura around the waste and I swam toward the surface as fast as possible. When we reached the banks I lay her body on the smooth rock. She is unconscious and I checked if she's breathing but she isn't which made my heart sank, but I need to think properly to be able to save her. Good thing I just had First Aid Training and I still remember how to perform a CPR.
I started reviving her by chest compression, I was praying that she would start breathing after 30 compression. Before the 30th compression she coughed up and I sighed in relief, I hugged her and find myself sobbing. I thought I lost her. I wouldn't be able to forgive myself if it happened.
"Daisuke-kun" she muttered weakly as she pat my back.
"I'm fine, stop crying, it's not your fault" she said with a worried voice. She held my face and wiped my tears.
"If it weren't for you I could have died, you saved me, and for that I'm grateful" she beamed and gave me a light peck on the cheek which made me blush. She then pinched my cheeks.
"You're so kawaii when your embarrassed" she teased. I just scratched my head and looked at her sheepishly.
"Let's go back to the inn and have our lunch before the ferry leaves" I suggested trying to divert her attention.
-------------------------
I packed my things before heading to the dining hall. I'm really reluctant to leave, although I've been on this island enumerable times already but this is different, Sakura wasn't with me in those trips, I was just a lone traveler back then. I never knew that someone would make me enjoy the trip as if it was my first. Sakura is truly special, I have always been awkward when it comes to girls but she's different. My trail of thought was halted when I hear her soft knock on my door. I slumped my backpack on my shoulders and hurried to the door to meet her. We went to the dining hall together and stuffed ourselves with delectable sea food dishes. We thanked the staff of the inn and proceeded to the dock.
------------------
We had so much fun in the upper deck of the ferry boat and the crew shared their funny stories that were so hilarious Sakura and I were on stitches, we can't stop laughing. But as we approached the dock, our faces became serious and the crew excused themselves.
"Anou Sakura-chan, can I have your mobile number?" I asked, I could whack myself for suddenly asking.
She looked surprised, "Eh? Ah of course, give me yours too". We blue toothed our number to each others' mobile. Then there was silence once again.
The passengers started disembarking, Sakura and I still stood on the upper deck.
"Oi, you two need to go down, we can't let you stay here" one of the crew jested.
"Hai"
I held Sakura's hand and we went down quietly. I helped her as she walked on the plank and when we reached the platform I released her hand. She cupped my head in her soft hand and softly said, "Thank you for everything, I had the best vacation because of you!" I saw her tears welling down her rosy cheeks and before I could reply she broke into a run leaving me dumbfounded.
---------------------------
I was suppose to follow Sakura-chan but my courage left me. I know I will regret this but my legs felt stiff as I saw her retreating figure. I stayed in grandpa's villa. I will not return to Tokyo till the following day, so I rested in the villa for the time being. Sakura's face keeps on flashing on my mind as I reminisce of the fun times we had while we were on the island. I fell asleep still thinking of the possibility that we can see each other again.
I woke up when I heard my phone rang.
Kring...Kring....Kring...
"Moshi...moshi... Oh Hayato doshta? Eh? Okay I would fly to Tokyo right away" I answered. Hayato called me about grandpa. One of the most important person in my life, grandpa was the one who adopted me when my mom and dad died in a car crash, and Hayato his only grandson became my best friend. We are like brothers.
--------------------
Hayato's POV
I called up Daisuke informing him of grandpa's condition. The two of them are really close. Daisuke is indebted to my grandfather because he adopted him when his mom and dad passed away.He then became part of our family, like a brother I never had. I am now here in the hospital, looking after grandpa. Daisuke will arrive in a couple of hours.
---------------
"Hayato, you may go home and rest" I heard a familiar voice as he tap my shoulders. I fell asleep, and when I raised my head I saw Daisuke's face a bit exhausted but relieved, I guess he talked to the doctor already.
"Will you be alright?" I asked him, doubting if he could take good care of grandpa in his state since he just arrived from travelling.
"I'm fine, go now, and don't forget to bring an umbrella, it's raining outside" he suggested.
True enough it was raining and judging to my driving ability it is better if I will just take the bus home so I left the car keys to Daisuke. As I walk towards the gate of the hospital I passed by the garden, I saw a girl hugging herself and letting the rain soak her. I know she's crying because I hear faint sobs, I couldn't help but approach her and I used my umbrella to stop the rain from drenching her even more. She raised her head, her eyes were all puffy but it didn't conceal her beautiful features. She looked so delicate that something inside me wanted to protect her. She wiped her tears and stood up.
"Gomen ne, I'm sorry if I bothered you" she bowed and tried to walk away but I held her hand.
"Don't go" I blurted, she looked at me, her eyes were wide, obviously surprised by what I said but not as surprised as I am. I wonder what made me say it.
"Maybe I could help you, I am Hayato" I introduced.
"Can you bring my father back?" she asked, her voice sounded desperate.
"I'm sorry" I replied, this girl lost her father and she's trying to let the rain wash away the pain. Maybe I will do the same thing if grandpa would pass away but now is not the time to think about it.
"It's not your fault that he died, you don't need to apologize, anyway thanks for the gesture, I really appreciate it" she tugged her hand and I released it. She turned to leave and then I gather my courage... "Can you tell me your name?" I asked.
She looked at me frowning, then she sighed "Sakura" then she walked away without looking back.
Sakura, her name is as beautiful and as delicate as she is. I wonder if I could see her again.
