So the electricity in my room doesn't work. Hopefully we can get that fixed like asap.

Daniel (my flatmate) is so awkward. Just, always, in general, no matter what.

I got my eyebrow pierced! I look like a rockstar now. Especially because I also got a faux leather jacket.

I love Ryan Seavey. He's a guy from Maine I met here in Spain and has become one of my best friends. I love hanging out with him! I spent like the whole last year hanging out a LOT with Halley and with Aaron and I saw Molly every once in a while, and then during the summer I spent a lot of quality time with my sisters, but other than that I didn't really have a social life. So now I'm in this completely new place, and yeah, given, Halley's here with me, but it's still a really different social experience. It's kind of shameful that I just met a bunch of other Americans and started hanging out with them all the time. It's just automatic, people who you would never hang out with back home (i.e. Sarah, my other best friend here in Santiago) are just really easy to get along with simply because you're from the same country. It's funny. And considering this city probably has more international students and pilgrims/tourists than locals, it's not hard to understand why all the locals get sick of you really fast. Haha. They've had enough of all the foreigners.

I kind of want to make a list of everyone I met here.

Sarah is from UWM, we met before we got here but became really good friends after we had to start figuring shit out together. She let me stay in her dorm for a few days when I first landed after 3 days with no sleep and no place to go to put my things or eat or sleep, and it was Sunday when I got here so nothing was open and I couldn't even find a hostel. Now we go out drinking every weekend. Oh god. Haha.

Halley came with me from UWM, we were bff's before we left and we just decided on the same program b/c we're both Spanish majors.

Ryan is from Maine, we met here after an Erasmus party, he's awesome. He's my first gay (guy) friend (every girl wants one) but sometimes I have dreams about us making out and/or him giving me a coupon for sex with him even though I'm a girl... so maybe I subconsciously like him a little bit too much. He fixed my computer. Thanks Ryan! We're on a search for sexy Spanish stallions together (Sarah too).

Aaron is from New York, we met in my Historical Phonology class. It's a really hard class. He dropped it... I might have to do the same. He introduced me to segundamano.es as well as oat milk. He brought a bottle of absynthe over the other day and everyone got wasted other than me because I was hanging out with the cat. I LOVE MY CAT. That was the night Halley couldn't find the bathroom in Aaron's favorite bar so she peed on the floor. That's some pretty drunken behavior. The cute thing is that Aaron was all over her before and after the incident.

Karin is from the same school as Ryan, but she's staying the whole year and he's just going to be here until like March or something. Aw, I don't want him to leave. She's really cool and really smart, she goes to class to often and doesn't come out drinking with us so we're not really close haha.

Rebekah is a girl from England that Halley and I met one day walking back from the north campus. We were speaking English (hardly, really... I was repeating varieties of "vroom vroom zoom" and "zoom zoom zoom zoom" and "vroom zoom zoom zoom"... but she could tell it was English I guess. It was really cute, she asked us in that awesome British prosody that I can't type out, "Are you English?" and thus commenced our friendship. That day we went to a restaurant that offered "lamb in its own juices" and "roast meat" (carne asada). That was hilarious. She introduced us ignorant Americans to a British show called Gavin and Stacey and it's pretty cute.

Irene is Sarah's roommate from the dorms. We hang out sometimes, but she has an awkward way of joking about Americans and it's kind of obnoxious. I wouldn't call it a superiority complex, more like she just doesn't get that it's not funny to give us shit. Like she said that "Spanish people" like to watch the Simpsons because they like to laugh at Americans. Like, I'm a huge fan of that show... it was created by an American person... and it's self-degrading humor. You idiot/bitch.... You know what I mean?

Some of Irene's friends from Bangladesh (I don't know why she's in that friend group, it's a little random, haha) hung out with us a couple nights but I don't even remember all their names. One of them was going to teach me Bengali in exchange for me teaching him English. Then in that same group there's a guy from like Iran or something.

Anis is a guy that just randomly stopped me in the street and asked me for directions to a supermarket, then changed his mind and decided he wanted to hang out with me instead. I have a sneaking suspicion that he never actually cared about that supermarket at ALL. I sort of get a creep vibe from him. Well, he just wants to sleep with me and doesn't feel like keeping it a secret. He told me I was his type. But honestly, I don't think he knows anything. He also told me I was blonde. Haha. He's from Algeria. I gotta say... the forwardness puts me off, but listening to him speak French is kiiinda fun! He's pretty cute, too, in a completely skinny girly european guy kind of way. Eh.

Who else did I meet? Um... Álvaro and Javi are Halley's roommates, they're from Spain. Álvaro is really awesome, and I love his girlfriend Alex. They're punks. God I love punks. Haha. And he's a vegetarian. I think that's a cute combination. And he's really nice and cute... great contrast to Javi, who's scrawny and quiet and glares and man, I've always hated psych majors! He told me off the day he met me and he still won't take back anything he said about me thinking I'm better than everyone else and being a bad influence (he said he could see it in my face). I love Halley for sticking up for me. For like three hours as that conversation dragged on when she brought it up the next day. He didn't have any examples, mind you. He can just tell what I think. God, that pissed me off.

Coco is friends with Álvaro and Alex, he's a skinny gay Spanish guy with a belly button ring. He's adorable and hilarious, a lot of fun. We only hung out that one night though and I don't have his number. Hopefully I can see him again sometime though b/c I liked him. Maybe I can hook him up with Ryan.

I have two flatmates, Nacho and Daniel. They're nice, we don't really hang out or talk much, but we thawed out the freezer together and they drank some sangria with me last thursday. Daniel's from London and Nacho's from somewhere like 40 minutes away from Santiago de Compostela. He goes home for the weekends, part of the reason we don't really talk ever. There's a window in the wall between his room and my room. It's really awkward. No idea why it's there.
