Festivids recs
I haven't had a chance to watch very many yet, but here are a few favorites, in alpha order by source:
Pit Bulls and Parolees: I'll Be There For You. Yes, that's the theme from Friends, and it's used really well -- the lyrics are perfect for this show. I watched it twice, and both times it made me all weepy, but in a good way.
Queer as Folk UK: Thinking Out Loud. Most vids I've seen for this fandom were all about the dance music, and the onscreen nudity and sex/lifestyle, or else the vidder focused on how awful they thought Stuart was. This one's the total opposite -- a gentle, emotional, romantic vid about Nathan and Stuart's relationship. The song's on the treacly side, but I didn't care, because I loved the vidder's story.
Spy Game: Resolution Road. A really lovely, emotional distillation of Tom and Nathan's relationship that hit the same buttons for me that the movie did. Terrific narrative and editing.
