why i feel so squeamish at the thought of ever becoming a part of organized christianity. someone replied to a friend's post that it was immature of students at centenary to protest the president's visit. while my qualms with this are another post completely, more power to those who went out onto the cline yard and stuck it to the man. with chop ( Read more... )

it's not just the freshman, it was almost everyone one. it's always more of that mentality than the one you maintain. i'm giving up on the church part of it and looking for a method that cuts out all the silly middlemen and women who make it so repellant to me. shame schmame, you know the majority rules in this fine country. and the majority resembles the kids i went to school with, and you know this. i'm not being simplistic and taking jabs at the church. i'm stating my opinion on the matter. and i'll continue to hold my own opinion despite your attempts to scold me for them. i'm not denying your faith or intelligence. but yours alone doesn't make me have it, only lets me know its possible.
and why quash an attempt to let their opinions be heard? political activism needs to begin somewhere. i'm sure some involved were there only becuase it was a gutsy thing to do that will get them some attention, but to tell someone "you should've gotten on the ship years ago and its too late for you now" doesn't seem very constructive. who did you register to vote? how many shreveport democrat meetings did you attend? how many oepn forums did you organize?

Do you know where the local Democrat meetings were during the last term? Superior Grille. Did I attend? Yes, once. Why Once? because all they talked about was local democratic politics which is dominated by who else but our fart of a mayor. I do not feel like it is in the best interest of the party or the left to sit and listen to Theron Jackson and Ced Glover talk about what a great idea it is to start a capital campaign for a larger than life sized sculpture of HILLRY FUCKING IMPRISONED HUCKABY. There's your local democrats for you. As for organizing a public forum...hmmm...in between the 9 hours at work and the 3 at work after work and the 2 in the middle of the night working at work I really did not get a chance to sit down and plan that one out. The school I work at used to register children of voting age to vote and then it fell out with the Diocese. Because I raised my voice with others we registered kids this past election season.

The kids you went to school with are idiots. The same sphere of influence that the church extends is equal and opposite to that of academics. Be careful always to be suspect of dogma, academic or otherwise.

I don't understand this obsession with taking one person's misguided actions and applying them to the organizations they belong to. It is tantamount to saying "Because the black guy I work with smells weird all blacks smell weird". It's sectarian rascism.

i AM NOT taking one person's actions...that's what i'm trying to tell you. having been removed from school for almost a year now had allowed the memories of the fellow students to soften and be removed from the forefront of my conscious. seeing that post and then reading those lj pages brought it all back with terribly vivid colors. and no where in any of this have i tried to go out of my way to insult you beliefs. i am commenting on the same old "masses=asses" thing, only in teh context of church. where you'd hope people would try to embody the teachings of jesus. esp. when they profess such stringent belief and faith. its upsetting to me that even the fundamentals of acceptance and brotherhood are lost on these people and they choose to maintain some offchutes of christian values, like optimism and hospitality, while ignoring reality and the issues therein. and i am also not saying that i believe everything i was taught in school. stop being so snotty to me.
