OK, no laughing from my peanut gallery about this one. I'd mentioned to Kate that MR was filming a new scary film so I dug around a bit and got some of the current details on it.

Directed by genre pro Wes Craven, "Curse" has been given a tentative release ballpark of Halloween 2004. Don't know how firm this is, and with *this* production, it could change quickly.

Mired in rewrites, re-castings, reshoots, and various production woes, Curse was temporarily shelved last year as Craven scrapped nearly everything including cast and script after wrapping filming in 2003.
In November he recalled a handfull of actors from the first filming to re-shoot and replaced Skeet Ulrich, who was cut as lead. Also cut from the first version were Scott Baio and Corey Feldmen.

On the second roster: Michael Rosenbaum, Christina Ricci, Joshua Jackson, Judy Greer, Portia de Rossi, singer Mya, Gilmore Girls bad boy Milo Ventimiglia, Omar Epps, Jesse Eisenberg, Scott Foley, and Shannen Elizabeth.

Actors on-set have reported that the second filming was more fun and leads the story in a different direction than the first. I just hope this means better different instead of Hoover vs. Dirt Devil different.

You may laugh now.
I caught some pics of Wes Craven online and I'm still up in the air over whether it really *was* him that told me he came back 'just for my smile,' etc.
