Character Personality:
Yoh is a gentle, mild-mannered young man. Although he appears to be very clumsy, shy and clueless at times, anyone would be able to tell that his heart is in the right place.
Well, that, until you realize your wallet’s gone after a few minutes of talking to him.
Underneath the likeable, candy coating is a manipulative liar and a kleptomaniac. He’s pretty damn good at what he does, too. He’s able to leave good impressions and he gets away with what he does 90% of the time. He’s not someone that would think about ethics or morality; as long as something gets the job done, regardless of how “moral” it is, he’ll do it. If he notices an opening to take something, he’ll take it, no questions asked. This thievery even became a habit for him (hence, klepto); he openly admitted that he stole when he’s stressed once.
He’s the type of person that will fool someone just to cover his behind, call on the cops to get their side, stay in one, inconspicuous place to observe what he’s done and laugh at the poor idiot he used. He believes that life is just a competition of sorts; survival of the fittest, so to speak. You snooze, you lose... your earring and your ear with it, if you’re lucky. This is the kind of attitude that makes him suited for a good life in prison and a better life outside.
However, Yoh only has one person he’s able to express genuine, unconditional love to, and that person is his crazy little sister. He knows she’s a nasty, lying bitch that derives sexual pleasure from other people’s pain... and he’s actually okay with that. When he saw his father “raping” her, he didn’t think twice and pulled out a box cutter and tried to kill his dad. Even Minatsuki herself thinks this little obsession is disgusting.
In short, Yoh’s a two-faced kleptomaniac with a sister complex.
Character Abilities:
Yoh doesn’t have anything fancy like his sister’s Branch of Sin. What he does have is a brilliant, strategic mind; he rarely makes half-thought out decisions (the times he does act irrationally usually involve his sister, of course). According to Ganta, he also knows more about medicine than a doctor.
He’s extremely good at manipulating people and sneaking around, too.
Character Weaknesses:
He can’t fight hand to hand for shit. Big, muscle-y guys (and girls) end up stepping on his face. He only has a chance if he uses a weapon and sneaks up on them. That, or poison.
Aside from the one formerly stated, Yoh cannot control his urge to steal. Whenever an opportunity pops up, even though he’s not in any dire need for money or shiny objects, he’ll grab it to relieve stress. He calls it a “bad habit”, and yet he’s not at all eager to change.
He’s cautious of everything; as a result, he tends to be a bit paranoid. He’s incapable of fully trusting people, so he prefers telling lies or half-truths. In the event that he does make friends, when he finds them as a threat, he’s ready to stab them in the back.
His love for Minatsuki can qualify as a weakness. He prioritizes her safety over anything else, including his own. His normally cool visage disappears whenever he spots her in distress and he won’t hesitate to try and kill the offender, everything he worked for be damned.
