Yesterday I randomly found out that Amy Sherman-Palladino’s producing a new show and it supposedly was very much like Gilmore Girls and so I didn’t even care what it was about and just got myself the Pilot. Which is good because I didn’t find the plot too appaling and I probably would never have watched it if it weren’t for ASP.
It IS true, Michelle is more or less a dancer version of Lorelai. :D But other than that, nope, the show is not a carbon copy of Gilmore Girls like I was afraid it could be. The plot is entirely different and at first I wondered where this could go because it’s always weird to have a show start with the main character marrying because well, you can’t really give them a lovelife. But about in the middle of the episode it became clear that this has a lot of potentially interesting characters, and huh, I was really surprised about the ending. (Not saying anything both for spoiler reasons and because I’m not in the mood for summaries, just some opinion stating here).
I love watching anything with dancing tbh and this is gonna be a big part of the show and I love casual/family relationships. (Do you know what I mean? Friendship doesn’t quite cover it, but those necessity relationships. Parents, siblings, parents in law, or just people who take some kid under their wing, stuff like that. Where people hate each other a big part of the time but then it’s all the more beautiful when they get along or bond for once. That’s what I love about GG most. Even though Luke/Lorelai are one of my biggest OTPs, what I found most interesting was Lorelai’s and Emily’s relationship.) Soo, Bunheads seems to have a lot of potential for that, too. Some of the girls in the dance studio, for instance. And also, oh did I love the bar scene with Michelle and Fanny. :’) (Kelly Bishop is awesome! Though it’s a bit hard to adjust to how different Fanny is from Emily.)
Oookay, just wanted to tell you that. I’m gonna watch another episode later. (Damn, so much for the other shows I’ve been trying to finish up or start watching. You’d think I’d get things done over the summer hellatus, but nah.)
gilmore girls,
