Ten Reasons to Hate Me.

Oct 28, 2005 18:29

By popular request, this list has been slightly re-ordered.

  1. My boyfriend is the best.
  2. Yesterday was a phenomenally fantastic day.
Short list of some reasons why:
    • I had a total Eureka moment in Maschinedynamik. This literally came on the heels of the conclusion that I was going to have to spend all day Monday (see number 3) in the library trying to figure it out.
    • In the same class, we had to sign up for Praktikum (like lab). This required a partner, which I feared meant I was going to be stuck with whoever else no one wanted, like the German version of everyone’s favorite lab partner there. Much to the contrary, the guy I’ve talked to like twice (and has been telling me what various terms mean so I don’t have to look them up) didn’t have a partner either, so we paired up.
    • One of his friends, Diana, introduced herself and talked with me for a while (you can do that during lectures here) and so I made yet another friend.
    • A couple of girls from my German class talked about going to Dresden this weekend.
    • I decided that the language has become significantly less of a barrier for me. This conclusion was based both on conversations (yes CONVERSATIONS, not just me stammering monosyllabic responses or asking them to please repeat the question) I’ve had with German students and the fact that I generally understand almost all of what my professors say.
    • I can do this.
  3. Today is no different from yesterday.
Another short list of reasons why:
    • I was actually not bored totally out of my mind in Contemporary International Relations. I even stayed awake enough to comment. Also, even though my paper was most likely a load of crap next to all of the liberal arts majors’ papers because I wrote it in 1.5 hours and am an engineering major, it would seem that the teacher is really looking just to see that we turned something in.
    • Werkstofftechnik is going to be outlandishly easy. I understand what he’s saying, and the subject matter is very chemistry-based.
    • Immediately after Russian, I made number 6 possible.
    • More socializing.
    • There’s a party tonight and I’m invited. :D
  4. Monday is a German National Holiday (Refermationstag) so I get a three day weekend.
  5. I have no homework for my three day weekend. None at all. (But when they don’t expect you to do much work normally, they can’t really expect you to do it on Holidays, now can they?)
  6. I slept for 10.5 hours last night, with no homework related repercussions whatsoever.
  7. As I write this, I am listening to the new Rammstein album that came out today, and it is amazing.
  8. I managed to circumvent most of of the seepage into my journal of the normal psychobabble that goes through my head by writing this concise, little list.
  9. My room is finally, finally clean. It even elicited a “Holy shit!” from Scott. And I think I am getting a couch.
  10. I’m in GERMANY. And it's really starting to feel like home, in the good way, not the "I'm hate this place and I can't beleive I'm still living here" sort of way. And, barring a few issues, like having my boyfriend and best friends literally thousands of miles away, life just fucking rocks.
