belated update
Happy New Year everyone.
I just got back from San Francisco. I went up for two puposes:
First, I was trying to replicate the memorable time I had last August. I got to see a few friends, but not all my friends (largely because most of them were ironically down in LA for the same weekend). It rained the whole time and was very expensive (14% hotel tax = ridiculous). My half-priced hotel room in union square turned out to be half-sized too (about 120 square feet, but nice small bathroom). Also, I officially heretofore designate San Fransisco a horrible city to drive and park in.
Second, I was hoping to build on a relationship that started just under two months ago. Things went far better in this regard. We drove up together and stayed in the same room together, which was our first extended time living together. Things went well despite the stress of above mentioned driving, hotel, and expense issues. For the first time in years I'm optimistic and thinking about a relationship with a longterm view rather than just getting by from day to day.
