Spam E-mails: A Step-by-Step Guide

Aug 22, 2013 11:18

Step 1: Receive Eventbrite's "upcoming events we've found just for you" e-mail.

Step 2: One of the events is free tickets to the red carpet premiere for Riddick.

Step 3: The website...looks legit?

Step 4: Know it's probably not real, but register anyway with your junk mail e-mail address.

Step 5: Receive back an e-ticket. (!!)

Step 6: VISIONS OF RUNNING INTO KATEE SACKHOFF AT THE EVENT AND BECOMING ~*~BEST FRIENDS~*~

Step 7: E-mail from Eventbrite. "We regret to inform you that "Riddick Movie Premiere and After Party" has been removed from our site and any tickets you registered for or event information you received from Eventbrite cannot be guaranteed."

Step 8: But they suggest a different website to go to to register again.

Step 9: Register again.

Step 10: Wait for a response.

UPDATE: Step 11: Receive e-mail back from new place. Turns out the tickets are for sale, for almost $2,000 (and you have to buy them in multiples of 2)
