On a lighter note...

Yesterday was WONDERFUL at parts.

One of the highlights of the evening was going with Joel to see Ed Pop the Balloon Man (his son is a dominant baseball pitcher and cool kid at NHS--Joey). Joel and I always notice little things that make us break down into hysterical laughter. It just so happened that Eddy Pop had a habit that made us crack up everytime he revealed this habit.

Ed the Balloon Man couldn't stop saying the phrase "my friend". Joel and I counted him saying it 77 times. That's excluding the first half of the show, part of which we missed. We took up counting, because we had noticed it at this point, and counted him saying it OVER SEVENTY-SEVEN TIMES. It's natural that if you're listening for something certain and hear it every two seconds, it gets to be pretty funny. It was, "Please, I need a new FRIEND in the audience to volunteer," or, "Won't you please draw a scarf from the hat, my friend," or, "Please pick your prize, my friend." He also said "you guys" a lot and BOY WAS IT HILARIOUS. He is generally a pretty funny guy who can draw up a high, enthusiastic voice, just like my old boss, D-Rock, who squeaked when singing camp songs. Of course, this may not sound very funny--I guess it's one of those moments when you have to be there to enjoy it.

Yeah, so I was pretty disturbed by yesterday, and I'm still pretty depressed for some reason today. However, as you can see, there were great moments in the evening. I saw Anjanca and her friends who I hadn't met yet at Pinocchios. I walked around downtown ALL OF YESTERDAY practically. The Northamptones were great. It was PACKED there and I got a little hot/claustrophobic but those smooth voices were so relaxing and soothing... I saw Young @ Heart Chorus--wonderful as usual. They just toured Europe recently, actually, and don't seem in the least tired out. I even checked out Selkie (not my style, but I still moved my neck to the beat (JOEL!) ;-)) and then the Nields, which both generally impressed me. We were going to see Trailer Park but even I said no--they were too out of the way, even for us, the Noho traversers for the day. We even went as far as Nabellomi's house. It was chill. It was great hangin' out with the gang. And I saw penguino77! Yay, long time no hug, heh. Yes, and Jherrell bumped into us.

JHERRELL: Can I have a copy of that tape? If it's not too much trouble and all...

Yes, the evening was chillaxed. And no alcohol needed...
