Znerkie is now a full-time grade 1-er. He is handling the adjustment to full-day school very well. Not to mention adapting to not having his very best school buddy in the same class this year :(
The job action taken by teachers has not yet made an impact but with the work-to-rule there will be no Meet the Teacher night so I am very thankful that Mme Roz. has been gracious enough to let me wander around the classroom a couple of times already and see some of the play centres and artwork in the room.
Znerkie fell very hard for his sub at the end of kinder (his original teacher headed off on Mat leave before school-end) so I was very happy to see that he gave his new Mme a big hug at the end of class on Wed. This class is not as parent involved as Kinder, obviously, and I definitely miss having the last 10 min to go and "quietly read" with Z and his mates. It gave me a chance to suss out his classmates and the parents too :D This year I will have to wait until his birthday again. The FI classes were split up pretty evenly so there is half a class that I don't even know the names of yet!!
I have been proactive this year and made forms for the kids parents to fill in and make up a class list. Another mum initiated last year and it was pretty helpful, even just to remember the kids names with...
This year the party should flow better as I will be organised. I will be I promise!!! I have written out a list of a few games that the kids know and will enjoy, I've already started getting stuff for gift baggies ready and the room will be booked on Monday - I hope. But how can I limit the list with all his new classmates and his friends from the former class plus a couple of extra mates from around the traps???
It will work, of course, it always manages to, somehow.
Soon I will have to start thinking about a guest list for Anerklette's 3rd birthday. Phew, I can hardly believe that will be coming up in 2012!
Marathon Man and I are doing well, as well as a couple can do with constant kidlet company. Dave gets up so early and the kids go to bed so late that we are very rarely alone at home. It makes it hard when we're trying to work out our parenting issues when neither of them will leave us alone :P Of course, they are both very adorable and fun and artistic and sporty and munkies to outdo all munkies. I always wanted 3 kids (being an only child I feel it's my duty to maximize the progeny) but we are such a nice unit now and how could I ever love any other baby as much as these 2??? ;)
Life is goodly.
