There are days when it's a really appealing idea to withdraw from all forms of humanity, removing oneself from all the governments and societies, the classes and their power struggles, organizations and clubs and networks, everything. Right down to the labels and allegiances and cliques and movements that come with my choice of clothes in the morning. Just strip it all off and live by myself on a boat and sail it around and around. It'd have to be naked, though, to avoid all that clothing-yourself-in-labels bit. So maybe not. But watching A Scanner, Darkly and Koyaanisqatsi in the space of two weeks is a good way to find some strange thoughts about priorities.
Anyway, isn't she beautiful?
I updated
the webpage with some pictures of the damage and what i need to be doing. I made it with googles new page creator, and i have to admit they made it very easy to make nice websites. Anyway, it suffices to say that the trailer for the boat is a persona non grata with the DMV. It has not been registered since 1995, and I have zero papers that justify its existence or testify to its shady origins. DMV = suck. I need to get it weighed, identified, registered, and inspected in the next 5 days. At least it has nice new lights now.
So, I mentioned I live in a farmhouse for the next few weeks, and here are
pictures of the area.
Not having a car makes this "a few minutes outside of the city" to "quite far", but the 20 minute bike into town is its own reward. A few shots of the view:
And here's me, drilling holes for the cross sections of the kayak.
back to work.
