I have no self control

It's all over.  The thing about knitting is that the expense of it all can really sneak up on you.  It starts out slow, a $5 dollar ball of acrylic and some $5 needles slowly escalate into $20 skeins of luscious silk yarn and $15 addi turbo needles.  You know what I mean.  A little bit at a time. Well... if only all hobbies were so simple.

I now have a sewing machine.  I now have... well... the mother of all sewing machines.  To get much more extravagant I would have had to venture into the scary land of embroidery machines.  As I do not have a business that necessitates me putting corporate logos onto polo shirts, I decided to forgo that extravagance.  However, I did go quite overboard on this one.  Damn lack of self control.

But it does do 8 different buttonholes automatically.  Oh... and decorative stitches that are 9mm across.  Really pretty ones.  It... um... has 4 fonts.  It can make a row of stitches that look like flowers, or leaves, or scrolls, or braids, or... ummm... seahorses.  Yep.  Seahorses.  Or kangaroos.  my sewing machine makes kangaroos.  Rows of tiny 9mm tall kangaroos.  See, I controlled myself, the embroidery machines can make 10 cm high kangaroos, with lots of colors and everyting.

I totally controlled myself.  My sewing machine does not link to the computer via USB cable.  My sewing machine also does not have it's own internet access and built in modem.  See... can't you sense the incredible amounts of self control?  Ok, maybe not.

For the record, it's a Pfaff performance 2056 and it is golorious.  Look for more fun crafty goodness to come in the future.  I think the first project will either be a simple lined purse or an a-line skirt.  I have to hit the stores this weekend and look for a pattern and some fabric.  I haven't really sewn since I was 14, but I assume some of it is like riding a bicycle (that whole not forgetting thing).  Only (I love metaphors) I am used to something your parents would buy you in middle school to ride 3/4 of a mile to school and back.  Now I could be ready for the tour de france.
