First of all, the question that plagues everyone: Should I see it?
The answer is complicated: yes.
Wait.
No, that wasn't complicated at all, let me try again. The answer is 'yes, if you enjoyed the first one and/or enjoy pirates and/or enjoy supernatural tales and/or enjoy action scenes that go on and on and on".
There. I guess that still wasn't so complicated, but you can deal with that, no?
The second movie... is unlike the first in that the storytelling methods are different. Because it's built to not only be a sequel, but the first in a two-part storyline, they build and build the whole storyline up the entire time. The story just... builds. This isn't necessarily a bad thing, but after two and a half hours of all this building you expect... something. I knew it was going to be a two-movie dealie, but I had no idea how... er... Star Wars they were going to go with it, what with the, "rebel hero encased in carbonite" ending.
The action scenes are numerous and perhaps a touch too dragged-out. It was if everyone was shouting, "MORE, MORE, MORE, MORREEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!" and so for two and a half hours, you got MORE MORE MORE MOOOOOOREEEEEEEEE until your eyes just explode with it.
I find it Mary Sue that Elizabeth Swann could learn to swordfight like that in - what? a year of training with Will?
And one more thing: There weren't enough scenes with everyone! Elizabeth, Will and Jack are seperated for about 87% of the movie, so you only get short scenes with each of them until their scenes start overlapping towards the end. That kind of cheated them all, I think.
HOWEVER.
THAT ALL SAID.
I still enjoyed the movie. A lot. Tons. I need it on DVD once it's out. I kinda wanna write fanfic, I enjoyed it so much.
THREESOME FIC. ZOMG.
Yes. Threesome. Will/Elizabeth/Jack - OT3!!!!!!!!!!!!111111111111 (Shut up, after this movie it's practically canon anyway.) Speaking of - I liked the dynamics there. There's a ton of chemistry there to exploit and it makes me fangirlgiddy that they went there. Granted, this is Disney so it'll all be resolved at the end with an Elizabeth/Will only thing. But like I care. XD;
Oh - speaking of going there - this second movie is way more violent than the first. Or, at least, Disney violent. The grossest stuff is in the opening scene. It made me cringe when the crows pecked at the encaged pirates. Maw.
And... and... I can't wait for it to come out on dvd.

I'm going incoherant again. Let me just close up my 'review' of PotC2 with: "Good movie - B+/A-".
Despite having had a decent night's sleep last night, PLUS a nap, I'm thinking about heading off to bed again soon. So tired. Giving my dinner a decent chance to perk me up, but if that should fail, you'll get more Con Report tomorrow (or soon, whichever).
