It's so funny the way the Lord works sometimes. I did NOT want to go visit Houghton this weekend. Everyone I talked to said it was out in the sticks, and there's no meeting anywhere near it, and I didn't know anyone there now, or anyone else who was thinking about going there. Before we left Friday morning, I was praying that I would meet someone there who was a really strong Christian that I could hang out with for the weekend, cuz I didn't want a repeat of what happened at Roberts. Well, I got to the music building (which was just gorgeous, it had this beautiful atrium, and all the floors have little glass balcony kinda things, so you can look down and see the lobby from every floor. During the holidays, they have caroling there, and each group stands on a different floor, and the "listeners" stand in the lobby and get to hear the breath-taking music waft up to the skylights above :) and while I was in for my audition a girl named Susannah came up and introduced herself to Mommy. She said that she had put my folder together in the admissions office, since she worked there, and she saw I was homeschooled, and she had been homeschooled her whole life, and gotten to go to London with the FYHP like I want to, and she would love to get together with me sometime that night if I wasn't doing anything to talk about Houghton!
Well, I came out of the audition, which wasn't too bad, I just wish I loved to practice, haha, and got to meet her, and she told me where her room was, and to come see her later.
We had a dinner with the music faculty right after that. Everyone was really nice, some of the professors seemed a little bit odd. I can't exactly put my finger on exactly what it was tho. Then I went over to meet my hostess, and she was watching a movie with her boyfriend, so I was all prepared for something like the Roberts weekend. But, I went up to see Susannah, and we walked over to the Daily Grind (coffeeshop! with smoothies!) and talked for two hours. About everything, homeschooling, teaching piano, students, FYHP, Houghton, London...
My audtion was the next morning. It didn't go too well. I blanked out at the end of the Waltz and the Invention. The Rondo was pretty good. But I'm not a performer, at all. Guess that's why I'm going into education :)
oh! And Houghton has ballet classes :D :D :D
So, I'm not sure what to do now. There are parts of every college I like. Messiah has a great piano teacher, and a meeting, and Phi and Sarah are there, and Roberts has an adorable music building, and maybe Lydia, and Houghton has London and ballet classes. So I dunno!
And hopefully this is the last time I have to write this, cuz I've rewritten it three times all ready, cuz it keeps disappearing grrrrr!
