[Kanji, used to being on his own in the house for the past few days, simply wanders downstairs in pajamas to the kitchen.

He freezes on the way back out with a bowl of cereal, at seeing someone new in the armchair.]

[He looks around when he hears the voice. He was expecting someone a little... older, amongst other things. More diplomatic in their behaviour. Still, he will take the opportunity. He stands up and crosses his arms, putting on the sternest expression in his repertoire.]

Okay, uh. Shit. Well, you were kidnapped by some psycho little girl and brought to this place, which sucks. They put you in these families and sometimes they do shit to you, like make you kill people and stuff.

You think any of us would be here if we could just leave? [He sounds a bit heated, but calms down after a second.] Well, I guess you don't, since you just got here. This place is Mayfield. It's supposed to look like a town in America in the 1950s, but I ain't never been to America before.

I suppose not. [He begins to listen patiently, until - ]

Yeah, time doesn't work right here, and sometimes you get, like, talking ponies and shit, it's weird.

You would do well to express yourself more clearly. How exactly does time not 'work right'? [It's clear that the way this boy speaks is giving him a headache. It may as well be a different language.]

Everyone's from different times, like it's 2011 for some people and the 1700s for another or whatever. Not that everyone is even from the same place.
