To preserve History Part 1

[Thursday 12:30

Location: Black Order HQ]

My name is Klaud Nyne. I am a general in the Black Order. I was in the front lines, when the outbreak began. The akuma were not affected by this virus, their blood was toxic and it disintegrated any that tried. I suppose we were lucky in that regard. If the akuma could be turned, there was no hope for anyone.

I suppose the first instance that we knew this was happening...was when it was too late. I don't blame anyone, not for the late notice, not for...

[She pauses, feeding her monkey with some crackers.]

I suppose, if this was like..that incident. [She pauses again, a frown crossing her face.]

It wasn't though. When the hordes came, of the those fleeing and of those chasing, the refuges  themselves were hard to manage. They turned to the church, the people and they turned to us to save them.

For some, it was too late. The surge of akuma...there were so many, too many. For every dead, normal dead not from the virus an akuma replaced them. The Earl could have wiped us out, but...he did not.

[From the papers before me, the report stated that the Zacks could not be turned into akuma.]

Our problem, aside from refugees were the Fallen. It seems that, since there were so much more people, actively looking for food, for supplies, more innocence appeared. But, with that, came the risk that those same people might become infected. There were two main reasons the Fallen would appear, from the stress, from despair...or from being infected.

We were up to our ears with the living and the dead. We didn't even have enough forces to deal with the akuma. The Earl took advantage of that...but the truth was, we lost more exorcists to the infected than we did to any akuma or Noah.

[She pauses again, her back ram rod straight, her eye glistening with unshed tears.]

You didn't come here to listen about that, Supervisor Komui would have already spoken to you.

[I nod.]
