Yesterday, I brought 2 of my 3 rats to the vet because of lumps. Pachi, my one-eyed rat, also has mites so she got Advantage for that. Her lump is soft and on her side, so it's not in a concerned area, but I'm going to keep my eye on it. Boo's is also soft but it's a mammary lump so she's going in for surgery on Monday. I never brought a pet in for something like this before, especially a little rat, so I am very worried and hope she pulls through. She is pretty active though, and not elderly yet (all three rats are a little over a year and a half old, average life expectancy for rats is 2.5 - 3 years).
Also the vet said that how I feed my rats is helping to keep them trim, even though Boo is kind of a fatty, lol. I don't feed my rats lab blocks, they mainly get vegetarian dog food, dry noodles, vegetables and berries, and the occasional cereal.
