This weekend was ridiculous: First, let me tell you about that cardio sculpt class at work. It is ridiculous: a straight hour of weights with so many reps that your heart rate is really high. 2 of the 3 classes that I have been to made me feel vaguely barfy.
So it is obvious why, on Saturday morning, I felt like I was running through mud. Fortunately, we had 4 girls there, so when I was on the field, I was present. The best part was certainly our for fun 3rd game. We had a bunch of goofy points like left handed point, chicken wing point (I threw the point on that one!), inverted point, and, my favorite, tyrannosaurus rex point. I feel very priveledged that I was put on a team that is so skilled and has such good spirit. We finished the season 6-1. Next week is playoffs. I hope everyone comes and then we might be able to win. Last year, I was on a rank 1 team, and no one showed for playoffs and we finished 4th. It was the black team and they were kind of snotty.
No pub, so I was still pretty energized when I got home. I asked Doug if he'd like to go for a pedal. With spontanaity, we pedaled to the end of the 56. About 20 miles! I was *tired* when I got home. The last 2 major hills, I had to stop for gatorade half way up.
Sunday, I had to run my 8 miles. We set it up so that I ran 4 at Lake Miramar then I met with Sarah and Kevin and ran 4 more. It was very successful. Sarah has this wacky low heart rate training that she picked up somewhere. She claimed that training at low heart rates would help her heart rate stay lower on hills and help her train for distance better. I could be misunderstanding since she told me this on the run. It sounded like bunk to me. What it meant was that Kevin and I traded off running at a super slow pace and running out ahead.
The new nike + ipod gadget still hasn't registered more than .8 miles after 4 miles. That means it can't be calibrated. I think I wil have to return the damn thing permanently which is a shame since I wanted to do a study for my over distance pace.
Sunday night, I had the worst insomnia. Wonder why.
Yesterday, I learned a new word. Apparently, "bricking" is joining two tough workouts of a different nature like running and biking. I think it is safe to say, this whole weekend was a giant brick.
