Ecuador is the country of dollars, birds and new roads. They are a small but proud nation. We spent just one night in Quito and took an hour look of the old colonial city before heading on... A night of insomnia with magnificent view from the window, insomnia I was reading about in Bolivar's book by García Marquez, and the sky was bright with city lights reflected by the mist that comes when warm air of the valley meets cold air from the city. Birds are loud and numerous, even in Quito, and eggs you get in every shop and for breakfast, everything else is chocolate, fruit juices, colonial churches, US style eating places.
