[Fic] [Round 44] Jealousy, PG13

AUGH. Certain things about this just bother me. I'm not sure if it's clear what I was aiming for either.

They always thought it was jealousy.
Beries had as watchful eye as Conrad when it came to his king and never failed to miss the hints of annoyance or anger that flashed across the other protector’s face despite how miniscule they were. When Beries' hand would stray to rest against Saralegui’s shoulder or arm. When he stood close enough to Saralegui that their sides just touched. When he started finding even more excuses to touch his king, just to be sure that was what caused that look on Conrad’s face or in his eyes.
They had soon also leant when he was patrolling the area. And always at those times, the light footsteps that grew closer would always pause outside their door. Sometimes it was only a few seconds until they continued on and sometimes it could be a few minutes. Then there were the times Beries and Saralegui were so involved in each other, they wouldn’t bother to listen for the footsteps starting up again. Those were usually when the pauses were the longest.
It was his jealously, they finally concluded. That he couldn't have with his king, what Beries had with Saralegui.
But they were wrong. Conrad didn’t want that sort of relationship with Yuuri. He wanted nothing more for his king than to protect him and make sure he was happy.
They were right about there being jealously though.
