Shori was annoyed to find the visitors from Shin-Makouku still in the house when he returned from class. His irritation rose as he noticed the door to his room was slightly open, meaning his mother had probably cleaned despite his repeated protests that he could do it himself. Resigning himself to spending the evening putting everything back where it belonged Shori pushed the door open and stopped. He had been prepared to find his room reorganized in any number of ways, none of them had included Gwendal asleep at his desk.
Shori dropped his books noisily by the desk, but Gwendal continued to sleep soundly. So much for ‘accidentally’ waking the man. Sighing he reached out and shook the older man’s shoulder lightly.
Gwendal rubbed his eyes, and then looked at Shori without really seeing him. “If you need to sleep use the bed,” Shori grumbled. “I need to get to my computer.” Gwendal nodded, mumbling what could have been either agreement or apology before crossing the room. Shori was certain the other man was fast asleep the instant he lay down.
When Jennifer called them to dinner an hour later, Gwendal was still sleeping soundly. Shori paused by the bed to wake the other man. Gwendal lay on his side, one arm curled around the pillow. Shori had never seen him look so content and decided to leave him be. Dinner would keep until later.
