Nearly everyone wonders about his relationship with the Shinou, and the truth is that he hadn’t even particularly liked the man when they had first met, he had only supported him because it had been the right thing to do. Over time, though, it has gotten to the point that he can’t imagine life without him, and still they hang onto each other, though he is different now and the Shinou only a shade, because even after four thousand years, neither of them has really learned how to let the other go.
He really and truly does care for Shibuya, despite what the more suspicious Nobles of the kingdom think. He has acquired a reputation for cold-blooded deviousness, for being unswayed by emotion when making decisions, but he meant what he had said to the Shinou that one time: Shibuya is a friend, even if Shin Makoku will always come first.
He knows his glasses sometimes reflect the light in strange ways and make those who know him well flinch, but he enjoys it, and after four thousand years of self restraint he does not feel guilty for this one small indulgence.
He often knows more about any given situation than he lets on, but the fact is that he has gotten so used to playing things close to his chest that it has become his instinctive reaction to any situation now, and he does not think he can change it. Four thousand years is very a long time for a habit to develop, after all.
The truth, sadly, is that he does not know how Janus came to be in that body-Daikenja’s body-nor even what the man’s intentions are.
