Anthrocon 2009 Report

Wow. Ok, so I'm finally back home and am trying to get myself settled back into the groove of things. Did anyone else just kind of get tossed back into work and stuff as soon as they got home? I was gone for a week, went back to work and the first thing I'm doing is running the joint by myself xD I was like...UH...I CAN'T REMEMBER ANY OF MY TRAINING D8 Hahaha.
Anyway, this year was pretty awesome! I have to agree with a couple of people that the con itself and it's events weren't as amazing as previous years. I think if all of the awesome people I met hadn't have been there, it would have been boring as hell |: But thankfully that wasn't the case.
I can never remember things exactly in order and I totally forgot to take notes this year! But here's a recap of my adventures. Some days may be mixed up, but just roll with it and make me feel like I can still remember things xD
Tuesday June 30th
I met up at the airport with Dazen, Tivadu, Aryte and some other peeps...Mark's (notveryathletic) flight was delayed 8( We all hopped on the shuttle and headed for the Westin! Upon arrival, Daz and I stumbled across Orange04 and Maldavius (: Tiv and his gang wandered off to get settled in, while Daz and I hung out waiting to hear from Mark. We later found out that his flight had been canceled, so we were all kind of in a panic trying to figure out what to do D: After many phone calls and suggestions, Mark finally decided to just drive from Newark to Pittsburgh! We got things straightened out and ended up kidnapping Orange04 and Mal and letting them stay with us (as they had similar room troubles). We met up with Tiv and gang for some food and I took the most artistic photo I have ever taken in my life. We all lovingly named it "Ass By Candlelight". My only regret is that I didn't have a professional camera...it would have looked so much better 8(
The rest of the day was basically just goofing around and hanging out. As soon as we got back to the room I konked out! Didn't hear any other people come in the room that night...and apparently I was keeping everyone entertained with my super loud snoring xD
Wednesday July 1st
I think all I really did today was wait for all my friends to arrive xD I was on the phone most of the day bugging people and asking when they would be getting there. Did anything else happen on Wednesday? *mindblank*
Thursday July 2nd
Registration day! I got up, hung out at the zoo for a couple of hours, got my badge...then spent the rest of the day at the zoo xD I believe I met up with Timothy Albee, Ivybeth, Autumn Sunrise, Nani, Kitwolf, Will, Samoht, Yunicoon, Blaits, Spunky, Bluebane, Kaze, Darkshift, Strype, Cooper...uhhhh. I can't remember them all xD THERE WERE SO MANY PEOPLE. But we all ended up hanging out in the zoo and I met even more people throughout the day. I think I ran around as Appa that night, because so many people were already suiting and I didn't want to be left out xD I can't remember if there was anything else that happened this day...so if I'm leaving out some important adventures, please let me know!
Friday July 3rd
First official day at Anthrocon! I got up early to sign up for Artist Alley. I always get nervous when they say that there are more people who signed up than they have room for D: Thankfully I made it in though :3 AND...I MET UP WITH MY WIFEY <3 That was probably the happiest moment of my con x3 We all got into the alley and somewhat...sat by each other. Samoht (Tom) ended up in a corner somewhere though, which made us sad 8(
Spent the night in the zoo, of course. I believe I met up with my Wolf peeps this night? Audrey (krazyklaws), Uzuri and my twin Marji! Those guys freakin' rock the universe! I can't remember if I met up with Erin (ESDA06) and Kay (KayFedewa) that night...or if it was the next day? WHATEVER.
Saturday July 4th
Up early again for Artist Alley and got in! But I noticed a disturbing pattern when they were calling my name. For some reason, instead of calling "Kkitty23", the announcer was reading my name as "KKKitty23" |: I think that explains why so many people seemed to be avoiding my table xD HORRIBLE. I will probably change my badge name to the full "koalakitty23" next year to avoid such mistakes c.c
I spent most of today drawing and running around trying to find people and say hello. I noticed a lot of people passing me by, so I decided to bother everyone and greet them with Neko Paws 8D Hmm...let's see. I think I ran into AyCee, Frisket, Nall, Redrumwolf, Inaliak, Keyoki, Keihound, Dark Natashaand OMG SO MANY OTHER PEOPLE D8 This day was actually special for a couple of reasons. First of all, I swung by to say hi to Dark Natasha (as is my custom every year). I was happy that she remembered me x3 I had a short chat with her about wanting to draw something for her (because she's awesome!) and she seemed to like the idea so much that she decided to commission me o.o I laughed, thinking she was joking, but then she explained that she wanted to commission me for a badge. So I was like... *FLAIL* BUT THEN...OMG. Upon further chatting, I asked if she'd be in the zoo later that night, which she said no, and when she inquired why I asked I explained that I'd be running around as Appa. To my surprise, not only does she know who Appa is and what show he comes from...but DARK NATASHA IS ALSO AN AVATARD!!! I think...I about died xD
Zoo that night, followed by lots of goofing around as Appa, making people my Appa children and later in the night getting tipsy off of Mojitos 8D Then I decided to crash.
Sunday July 5th
Last day in Artist Alley...my name was miscalled again c.c The good news is that I got to sit with my crew! Airu, Marji, Keyoki, Ivybeth was down the table and Louve and Boobunnygirl were across the way, along with Mai 8D It was like being surrounded by HAPPINESS. My wifey made me an amazingly...disturbing badge of KKKitty23 |: I wore it for a whole 5 seconds before deciding that I would probably get mugged later if I continued wearing it. So I lovingly placed it deep within my cluttered backpack <3 No one really seemed to be about the chibi porn this year...however, when I offered retarded porn my sales suddenly went up xD I have a couple of people to thank for that! Suka aaaaaand and awesome young lady who's name escapes me at the moment D: I owe them both art for being my representatives xDD
SUNDAY NIGHT WAS WHEN ALL THE MAGIC HAPPENED! My buddy Dax let me steal his fursuit away for the night, ehehe x3 It was a lot easier to see out of and I could move around without any trouble! I took a few moments to get used to the suit before heading out to meet Guyver47 (she was my first escort). I had a lot of fun meeting her friends and being offered drinks (drunk fursuiting, woo!) and yummy truffle things x3 Once we were all set, we headed out to the lobby! I tried my hardest to keep quiet and let my acting speak for me. I tried to be very animated and silly and from what I've been told, I did a good job at keeping people entertained (: That makes me happy! We headed up to the zoo after a brief overview of the lobby (didn't really see anyone we knew). Guyver had this awesome habit of leaving me, LOL. I had to brave the escalators on my own...which was quite terrifying at first, but I was happy that I made it! People on the escalator gave me high fives too 8D I felt encouraged, hehe. We headed to the side entrance of the zoo and passed by some drummers? I'm not really sure what they were, but I started my gig off with some Native tribal dancing! I'm pretty sure it looked nothing like how...it should, but it still got a giggle or two out of people. The first person I ran into was Audrey 8D She became my new escort, which marked the start of an amazing evening.
Our first stop was finding Ivybeth. We walked into the zoo and I was nearly trampled by people who wanted to hug me and take pictures xD I posed for everyone and then headed toward the corner where Ivy was. I think I was ambushed by a Nall lion on the way, which resulted in a bit of kung fu D: I lost, but somehow zombied my way to the Ivy corner! I had fun interacting with all of those guys x3 Everyone was so silly and very fun to play around with! I spotted a box of stinky pizza, was crowned King Daxius of the Ivy corner! And even chose a noble steed for myself...which I wasn't able to actually ride, but instead decided to show my dominance in other ways, LOL. I was nearly raped by a Spunky wolf later. She couldn't keep her paws off me, that one!
I spent a bit of time cooling off in the bathroom x3 It was fun having girls come in and squealing when they realized who was in Dax's suit, LOL. Very amusing. Audrey and I later convinced our friend Marji to come downstairs, leading her to believe that we'd found a really hot guy we wanted to introduce her to. Audrey met her down the hall and the two of them rounded the corner to find me, Dax, grooming myself in the mirror. I was able to woo the fair maiden with my charming hand signals and we skipped off down the hall happily...until I found some more ladies x3 The whole rest of my adventures involved arm wrestling, dance offs, whisking away several ladies, being sneaky and finding the world's sexiest suiter evar and hitching an elevator ride with her 8D Can you say...CURVACEOUS? Heh heh heh.
Monday July 6th
Was it just me, or was everyone leaving today? I was really sad to have to finally say goodbye to everyone 8( I was able to hang out with a couple of people though before officially leaving, so it was nice to be able to have one more solid conversation with my friends. Tiv, Aryte and I headed out and managed to catch the taxi from hell xD Thankfully we made it to the airport with all our stuff in tact and momentarily split up for check in. To my surprise, I found Yunicoon and Blaits at my line! So I was excited to have some extra company. We met up with Tiv, Aryte...along with Nick and Lacy! It was a whole group of awesome (: We got ourselves settled, then headed to grab a bite to eat. After dinner, we said our goodbyes and I headed off with Yuni and Blaits to hang with them at their gate for a while. Bluebane came to join us later 8D So we were all just hanging out and having fun before having to say goodbye T3T Once Yuni and Blaits had to leave, I escorted Bluebane to his gate before having to say my goodbyes again. Waiting for my plane was DEPRESSING. But once I was halfway home, I was excited to see everyone. My friends and family were texting me like crazy and telling me how they were ready for me to come home already xD I don't think anyone has missed me so much before, haha.

So I'm back home now! Things are back to normal and I'm already ready for my next day off xD -shot- The highlight of my day today though? MY KKITTY STICKERS CAME IN 8D!!! AND OMG THEY LOOK AWESOME. So now I must calculate them out so I can open up sales :3 I nearly cried...they look so professional T3T It made me feel like I'd made my first step toward official merchandise *bawl*
Anyway, I'm working on getting things back in order with art and whatwhat. Please have some patience with me as I'm catching up on notes and emails, etc. I had a billion messages to return to c.c I'll get back on top of things in a jiffy!
