(no subject)
Aw, I just realized that both my original housemates here in Oxford, Dorothea (from Germany) and Lina (from Malaysia) are leaving for home this weekend, and I won't see them again...
That's sad. They've been so nice and helpful. I didn't know they were leaving so soon, but I guess they won't be back until late August or even mid-September, so I definitely will miss their return.
It will be strange without either of them here, because it sort of feels like it is their home. So it will be like I'm just living in someone else's house while I'm not there. They've taken most of the normal responsibilities of landlords, too - finding tenants, fixing up the place, etc...Mr. Khan (my actual landlord) is pretty sketch...I haven't personally had issues, and my rent is decent, but some of the things I've heard aren't so flattering. For one, he won't fix anything - there is actually a visible crack in the front door, through which you can see light on the other side, that he has refused to fix since before winter. Another thing - when Dorothea moved in, the place was in worse condition than it is now - in her room, there was even mold and such. So D. fixed it up as much as she could, and when Mr. K saw how much better everything looked, he wanted to INcrease her rent, LOL. Oh, ALSO - an Indian girl may be moving into my room once I'm gone, and Mr. Khan asked Dorothea to get a picture of her before he accepted! How illegal is that?!
Anyways, enough gossiping - I just wanted to say goodbye Lina and Dorothea and thanks for being awesome.
