Vacation: Switzerland

It was corpus christi today, so at 7am sharp there were several cannon shots followed by the ringing of every church bell in town. This went on for a few minutes. Since most everything was, therefore, closed, we went to Mt Pilatus via s-bahn, cog train, cable car and gondola. After a couple of hours at over seven thousand feet, I had a headache and my sister-in-law was developing more prominent altitude sickness, so we took that aforementioned cable car down a bit. She admired all the cyclists in their biker shorts while Keith and I tabbogoned. Then it got unsunny again, so we left. What this really means is that I have a spiffy, well-fitting jacket with a cute little dragon on it and less money.

I've also noticed that people tend to take one look at Keith or my SIL and start speaking in English, but will automatically speak to me in German. While this means I've gotten pretty good at parsing interrogatives with "ja", "nein" and "Englisch, bitte," it does make me wonder if I give off some sort of Euro-vibe.
