Saturday, my electric kettle died. It was heartbreaking and grossly inconvenient. I had to drink nasty plain water in the morning, at work. >:(
Yesterday, after making a solid breakfast, I tried to go to the dojo for half a class. Unfortunately, there was a Ravens' game and the traffic was hideous. After I finally escaped the mess, it was far too late to attend class, so I hopped onto 83 and went to Pet Depot. I picked up some food for the cats, then headed up to Wegmans. <3
On the way home I saw over two thousand motorcycles -- some sort of Harley Davidson group ride. At first, I assumed it was a typical large group of maybe forty to fifty. But then they kept coming and coming and I could see them as far around the beltway as possible. Finally, the group ended but -- no it didn't. There was a second one. A mile or two later, it really did end, escorted by three two trucks and a firetruck. It was pretty impressive.
Then I got on 97 and there was another one. I got stuck behind them for a while but, fortunately, they exited pretty early. Man. I guess they were Sept. 11 commemoration events.
We spent the afternoon doing laundry and playing with our neighbors' dog and kitten. (Keith's pet sitting while they're on vacation). It's fun to watch them play together, chase and hide'n'go'seek. At one point, the kitten did a spread eagle leap, fully expecting to stop the dog in his head on charge, but wound up pile-drived. She was quite surprised and miffed.
I watched the first episode of Glee. I'll give it a few more and see if I like it.
Today was interesting because the PM is either too fucking lazy to do her job and hand out assignments in a timely fashion, or really passive aggressive. Probably both. When I heard not announcement about making pivot time, I asked Carrier16 if I'd missed one, but she said no. All the same, I cut my third class to make a half hour, just in case.
Around 10am, as I prepared to pull down my mail, Carrier12 informed me that I had 1.5 hours on C10. The carriers double-casing the open routes ultimately informed the rest because our acting supervisor, the PM, sure didn't do jack shit. Until carriers were blithely leaving without their bumps, and she finally made a frantic intercom announcement warning everyone that all carriers had additional assignments.
But you know what? I don't think she forgot by accident. She's been so consistently manipulative, deceptive and untrustworthy that I'm willing to bet she deliberately did that to run carriers over just to see who would have the sense to call in and file overtime upon return. I'll just assume she wants our unanimous contempt. She must be unfamiliar with all those studies that show that cooperation is more effective than hostility and division in the workplace.
I wound up with only 1:20hrs available to deliver 1:30hours of C10 and return to office, so I wound up jogging a lot of it. I finished too late to attend the first aikido class and too tired and sore to consider the second. So I finished off getting groceries. I found a new electric kettle, a slight upgrade that will hopefully last longer. *sighs in relief*
