So, the New Route

Wow, yeah, walking still sucks. Especially if you're attacked by two dogs within twenty minutes of each other.

The first one was this big mean yellow lab that quietly hid on the porch, behind some concealing bushes until I popped around the corner. Trapped between an SUV, bushes and dog I really had nowhere to go. Not that I would have, thank my lack of startle reflex, again. No, seriously, I always thank it because it scares the shit out of dogs (even when they're scaring the shit out of me). I stood in place, looking at the snarling, drooling, barking idiot dog, took a moment to grab hold of the pepper spray and shot him a few times. Then I backed off the property, noticing a neighbor's kid watching the whole thing with his mouth hanging open. Quite naturally I had heart arrhythmia flail for a bit and then....

The second dog charged from inside a house, leaping (yes, in the air) against and unlatched storm door. I think she got about halfway out before I threw my shoulder against the door and sent her reeling back inside. The owner came rushing over to thrash the dog and close the inner door. More arrhythmia flail. I've got to say it's really inconvenient having a heart that doesn't work quite right, even if it is off-set by steady nerves. Bleh.

The route itself isn't too bad but I could probably walk it faster on days when my pulse is steady. :P Dumb dogs.

But, Carrier11, now Carrier13, came through with Farscape Season 1 DVDs (7 on each disk) so all is not awful.

dogs, work
