The Cure.
I watched a bunch of their videos on my tv, and I forgot that I really love them. The videos made me feel sad. Like not an unenjoyable sad, but the kind of sad where you just stare and think about how maybe every decision youve made in the recent past has been wrong. Ok maybe that's a very distinct and non universal feeling, but thats what it felt like. Other than my own emotional intensity, they were a really good band who transcended their label of 'new wave' or whatever and wrote very heartfelt and meaningful songs while still keeping them poppy and danceable. Great melodies and wonderful blending chorused guitar parts. Like a less intellectual and maybe more accesable version of the Smiths, not placing any value judgements on either band. Very very influential, too.
Tomorrow a double. New job on the horizon. Trying to stay positive.
