Finals have snuck up with the kind of stealth normally reserved for something...sneakier than finals should be, I suppose. Most of my professors are doing the "final on the last day of class" thing, which is okay if one is doing it, but when they all decide to do it I get a bit frazzled! Add to that my ongoing apartment search, interviews for summer internships *crosses fingers, knocks on wood, etc.*, very little money, and many hours of work? Blah.
A glimmer of light: the other day I got to talking with an acquaintance at the movies, and she mentioned that she's been to southern France. I, having lived in Nice for a while during high school, got really excited and we reminisced together about the beauty of that region. That's not what blew me away, though; no, it was the fact that she'd frequented my absolute favorite ice cream place on the planet--Finnochio's. It's this little place nestled in a corner of Old Nice, and I've never met anyone (aside from the other AFS kids) who's even heard of it. It was this crazy moment where I relived everything that was awesome about that part of my life. Such a wickedly cool feeling, all because of one girl who knew about lavender ice cream.
And now, for my random music recommendation of the day: Jukebox the Ghost. I've been meaning to listen to their stuff for a while (their guitar player was in my Piano class last semester--a totally decent human being), and since I missed them at Spring Fling I looked up their MySpace page. You should, too! Their music has a quirky, crazy feel to it, and it's totally better than the majority of the shit out there in the indie world these days. Support the local bands, but support the good ones even more, right?
