At some point we have to sit back and just start writing, because the noise from outside is simply too overbearing to make a coherent thought. Every place I go to seems like Las Angeles or New York. Most places are Las Angeles. I find the similarities shared by cities and biological organism fascinating. It would be cliched to say that cities are alive, but perhaps less to say that they share common traits. Certainly the diversity in both worlds is amazing. Some cells grouping together to form larger structures, carrying out specific tasks. Others that organize serve a more general function. I wonder about collective growth. I wonder about cancer. I wonder about the ability to heal.
I’ve begun practicing Nichiren Daishonin Buddhism. My aunt started practicing this form of Buddhism in the early 80's. She sent me a really technical book that I have fallen into hardcore. Last week I went to a meeting at the SGI center and chanted with a whole bunch of folks. Last night I had a long conversation with Brad, the guy that invited me to the center. It was a really heavy talk, most of which I cant remember.
