Well! Yesterday, a neighbour asked me to walk her two dogs a few times today, because they were headin' off to Montreal. So I said, sure why not; how hard could it be?

After putting both the little yappy, sausage dogs their leashes, I proceeded to lock their door. However, just then one of the dogs broke free of his collar and ran towards the street! After re-leashing the dog I proceeded to walk them in an ordinary walking-like manner, only to discover, upon my return, that they key I forgot to take out of the lock was gone, and the door I forgot to lock was locked!

Deeply concerned now, I scoured the neighbourhood with a pair of dogs whose master calls "My darlings", asking neighbours if they had the key, but to no avail.

For the rest of the day, the two rat-like yappers were locked in our kitch, subjecting our neighbours to an epic symphony of two high-pitched notes. During the 2nd and 3rd movements, we set up a watch over the house, involving a card table, homework, and chair, in order to prevent any malicious key-bearing intruders from breaking in. My family even dined at that fated card table, with another one of our neighbours running to get her camera, in fits of laughter, as well as couple of beers for us.

When the owners finally got home, they took the news of the phantom key quite well, and when we checked inside the hosue for the key, it was just behind the inside of the door. It turned out that some painters were in the house for the entire time, and had taken the key out of the lock, and locked the door with their own key!

The day ended with twenty dollars in my pocket and an amusing story in my head.
