People like to make jokes about the stereotype of the comic book geek: unwashed, stinky, and obsessed with the minutiae of comic book history.
But in actuality, the hardest part about running a comic book shop is the Super Egos. I'm not talking psychology here, I'm talking about the gigantically overblown egos belonging to the various super-powered entities who populate the shop.
I mean, sure there are a huge number of indie characters running around, working hard at balancing things out or just masturbating all over the pornographic comics, but still. Even the self-aggrandizing alternative ego is no match for unbreakable, unbeatable, over-muscled men capable of independent flight.
Honestly, if it wasn't for the few female superheroes organizing their day-to-day schedules, sorting the bad guys and evil minions into some sort of logical order, and refereeing the spontaneous cross-publisher battles (the Hulk vs. Superman, Wolverine vs. Lobo, etc.), we'd never get anything done.
At least most of them are good with kids.
